The Trinity Yard F.C. is now a registered soccer organization is Ghana with the Western Region, FA. We have three youth Coast teams U-17, U-15, U-12, that play weekly in Takoradi. The Other team we have registered in is a mens 2nd Division team that plays both at home in Akwiddea and away. The season begun in May and will end in July, with playoffs. Our Coast U-17 and U-12 have done quite well loosing only one match so far. The U-12 and our Division teams have had tough starts to the season, as we have skipped the entire 3rd Division to play at a higher level of soccer. Hopefully next year will prove more successful in our results.

The TYS F.C. has moved our home field out of the village of Cape Three Points, to the neighboring village of Akwiddea, due to the constant destruction of ball boots on the sand. We have new goal posts and a grass pitch thanks to the contributions of John Soukus Jr. We have our sights on building our own pitch near the school in 2013, if all goes as planned., for now Akwiddea will work well for our games.
Thanks to the continued support of our youngest board member Emma Lipshultz we have new jerseys for the teams which look sharp during matches. It is a long term goal to bring a U-17 team to the states to play in tournaments around New England and the eastern seaboard if it ever becomes possible.

click to enlarge The TYS farm project still on its feet from the work invested by Ant Mackeral is still one of our top priorities. This past april we prepared two large farm plots for students to test various vegetables seeds donated by High Mowing Organics. The students, led by graduate Bossman Kwagye have planted food that they can use for their own cooking during our biweekly-lunch, as well as sell to local eco- lodges and visiting groups. The farm is still on a small scale operation, but we have begun to prepare for large plots to be utilize in the 2011 and 2012 schoolyear. With our solar powered water pump, we can no gravity feed almost any spot on the school premises.

click to enlargeLed by master drummer and dancer, Joe Afagbedzi, the TYS culture troupe has had a slow start to the year. Many of our drums, that were a few years old lost their song, and needed serious repairs. We have since bought a new full set of drums, and will be teaching again in this July through the 2011-2012 year. The culture group which is the heartbeat of the vision has unified different cultures and paces of life through the universal language of which it speaks. We hope to recruit new dancers and drummer this year form neighboring villages.
